Prices at the Challapata market prices remained more or less stable in the past two weeks. On Sunday 26 July white quinoa was sold at 450 Bolivianos per quintal (US$1.43 per kg), the price for red quinoa was 1200 Bolivianos per quintal, equivalent to US$3.81 per kg, and black quinoa 750 Bolivianos per quintal (US$2.38). All prices in Bolivianos are the same as in the week before.
Prices on the Challapata market have always been somehow lower than prices paid by producer organisations and private farms, but the differences are now disproportionate. Exporters are therefore not considering the Challapata Market price as a benchmark anymore.
